Semcon Signs Project Management Agreement with Ericsson

GOTEBORG, Sweden, Feb. 28, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Semcon signs project management agreement with Ericsson.

The agreement means that Semcon will provide and develop training and consultancy services related to Ericsson's project management model, PROPS, for both Ericsson and external clients. Semcon will collaborate with the Ericsson Project Management Institute (EPMI) in Stockholm, the product owner and in charge of PROPS' development. The outsourcing means that Semcon will employ some twenty qualified employees from EPMI's former business in Karlstad. Initially, the agreement will run for three years.

"Through our agreement with Ericsson we are strengthening Semcon's project management skills and acquiring a long-term partnership with Ericsson for consultancy services, training and PROPS support," says Hans Johansson, Semcon's CEO.

Projects are becoming exceedingly more complex, making effective leadership vital. Focus is on profitability and establishing a balance between time, quality and costs. This is apparent through the constantly growing demand for good project management models.

"In partnership with Ericsson, our ambition is to develop and market PROPS, also to clients in other industries," says Johansson.

The recently established Semcon Project Management AB will consist of qualified project management consultants who have participated in designing the PROPS model itself and Ericsson's websites for project management.

"Semcon gives us the strength and experience to manage industrial projects that we need to serve as a stable partner to Ericsson," confirms Department Manager Gunnel Axelsson. "Moreover, we know that other companies are enormously interested in PROPS."

The British project management company, Indeco, recently named PROPS one of the world's best project management models. The PROPS model is also used outside Ericsson by a number of leading industrial enterprises. EPMI will continue to own and develop PROPS and, backed by Semcon, can now focus on further improving Ericsson's internal project management solution.
