Capio-Owned Actica Omsorg Receives New Contracts; Increases Sales by SEK 130 M Per Year

OSLO, Norway, March 6, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Lerum, Oslo, Solna and Stockholm -- in these cities Actica Omsorg has received four new elderly care contracts, with a combined annual value of SEK 130 M. During recent years, Actica Omsorg has expanded strongly and notices an increasing demand for the type of quality-assured and individually tailored care services it offers.

The new contracts

In Oslo, Actica Omsorg is expanding its services in the Norwegian market by taking over the operation of Madserud Sykehjem in June 3, 2002. Madserud Sykehjem has residential accommodations, for 82 residents, and day-centre services. The contract is for three years with an option for a 2 years extension.

In Sweden, Actica Omsorg is expanding its operations through the addition of three new contracts. In Stockholm, the operation of Ceremoniens' service home, including 84 residents and 70 apartments for assisted living, will be taken over. In March, Actica will also start a homecare service operation in Solna, outside Stockholm. The home care service operations will be conducted from Bollens service home. In Lerum, outside Gothenburg, Actica will assume responsibility for the operation of the new Riddarsten dementia nursing home. This new unit, with accommodation for 40 patients, is planned to be ready during the second half of 2003.

Unique elderly care concept

"We notice that our "On your own terms" care concept is much appreciated among elder persons in our service homes, nursing homes and home care service operations. We are convinced that this is one of the reasons contributing to our steadily growth in the elderly care segment," said Actica Omsorg's President, Sture Ericsson.

Actica Omsorg's fundamental care philosophy, the "On your own terms" care concept, is based on providing services and care to individuals on their own terms. The care routines are determined by the individual patient's needs, desire and former living habits. This unique care concept enables a very high degree of participation by individuals and their relatives, in co-operation with the professional care staff. To fully meet the objectives of the concept, the company employs a carefully prepared quality assurance system. The aim is to use a holistic approach as the basis for conducting a continuous dialog with the persons principally involved in the individual patient's care and service.

Actica Omsorg, Capio's Elderly Care business area, is one of the Nordic region's leading companies in the field of elderly and dementia care services. Actica has annual total net sales of exceeding SEK 800 M.

The company is a member of the Capio Group and works actively with quality development and quality assurance in the elderly care area.
