Second Generation of the Top-Selling External DVD+RW Recorder

HANOVER, Germany, March 14, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Alera Technologies, developer and manufacturer of Advanced Optical Recording Solutions debuts yet another advanced DVD recording solution, the DVD+R Cruiser(tm), at the DVD+RW Alliance Press Event at CeBIT 2002.

The DVD+R Cruiser incorporates the newly released DVD+R technology that can record using both DVD+R Write Once and DVD+RW ReWritable media. With the DVD+R Cruiser, users have the advantages of being able to rewrite discs as the situation requires as well as make non-alterable, non-erasable records. The DVD+R Cruiser has the same fast DVD Write and ReWrite speeds as its predecessor and reads DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD Video, DVD-ROM, CD-ROM, Audio CD, CD-R and CD-R discs and writes CD-R and CD-RW.

The DVD+R Cruiser (Alera Technologies Part no. 270104) can be connected to multiple systems with different interfaces by merely changing cables. The DVD+R Cruiser external solution is offered with A-Connect(tm) USB 2.0 connection as standard. The DVD+R Cruiser can also be connected with optional A-Connect FireWire IEEE 1394 Connection Kits (Alera Technologies Part no. 240110 for PC; Alera Technologies Part no. 240115 including Charismac Discribe software for Macintosh) and Cardbus/PCMCIA Connection Kits (Alera Technologies Part no. 240112). A-Connect kits extend portability between systems with different connection ports and buses.

"Alera Technologies continues its market leadership successfully bringing Prosumers the latest in DVD technology with a complete office and home external USB 2.0 DVD recording system for both rewriteable and write once archival recordings," states Perry Solomon, President and CEO of Alera Technologies. "Our DVD offerings are total solutions complete with DVD Video creation and data management software and are equipped with Alera Technologies unique A-Connect multiple I/O connectivity so you are not tied to one interface and can add DVD Recording capability to almost any system."
