PBS has Selected Digital Vision as Supplier for Digital Receivers and Decoders

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, March 19, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Swedish based Digital Vision has been selected by the US based Public Broadcasting Service to equip its 171 members, which operate 349 public TV stations with Digital Television Satellite Receivers and Decoders. The units will be used at PBS, its Member Stations and certain other entities associated with PBS. The final negotiation between PBS and Digital Vision will start immediately and the plan is to have a signed contract in the beginning of April.

The delivery of the equipment is planned over 3 years, with the first delivery before this summer. The total contract value is estimated to 5 million USD.

Digital Vision's technologies help the broadcasting industry achieve the highest level of digital image and sound quality. The product offered to PBS makes it possible to adapt programming locally as well as monitoring transmissions in the digital networks.

"We have been working together with PBS for many years and they have used our Digital TV equipment in field tests with good results," said Harry Vesanen, CEO Digital Vision AB. "This decision by PBS enforces Digital Vision's standing in the market as an industry leader in state of the art Digital TV technology."

PBS, headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, is a private, non-profit media enterprise owned and operated by the nation's 349 public television stations. The network is available to 99 percent of American homes with televisions and to an increasing number of digital multimedia households.

This announcement appears as PBS has finalised the assessment received following a request for quotations and made public their intention to enter into final negotiations with Digital Vision.

Digital Vision's business concept is to offer state-of-the-art technology and products to clients in film/video, multimedia and the distribution of digital television within three business areas:

-- Media Mastering, e.g. the digital mastering of feature films,
TV shows and commercials and the adaptation of these to DVD

-- Media Networking, the adaptation of images and sound to digital
    transmission networks

-- Digital Cinema, the digitalisation of traditional film for cinemas

Digital Vision was founded in 1988 and today the company is comprised of the Swedish parent company and a sales company in the U.S. The company is dedicated to the development, the production and the sales and support of systems. Production is primarily managed through outsourcing.
