Nokia has chosen service subcontractors for the landmark network-sharing deal with 3G Infrastructure Services AB

Nokia has chosen Selek Telecom AB, Swedia Networks AB, Neterna AB and Flextronics Network Services to participate in the Nokia 3G implementation in Sweden in the landmark network sharing deal with 3G Infrastructure Services AB announced on October 25, 2001.

These companies will work with Nokia for the implementation of the shared 3G network. Their activities will cover installation, commissioning and integration, first line maintenance and training. Nokia has synchronized its total system delivery for 3G networks, resulting in efficient 3G network deliveries and faster network rollout capability. Initially, Nokia will provide a complete set of services for operation of the 3GIS network.

"By combining our strengths with those of our subcontractors, we will enable efficient implementation of new 3G networks and hence faster time to market. This cooperation provides significant competences, experience and resources for flexible and cost-efficient implementation of 3G networks," says Anthony Crane, Vice President, Delivery and Maintenance Services, Nokia Networks.

"Since 3G success is about speed, we feel that Nokia's resources, project management skills, processes and cooperation partners are ready for 3G volume installations. Nokia has already built the capabilities for rolling out 3G and GSM networks, with support ranging from pure consulting to turnkey project implementations, building on the extensive implementation expertise gained in close to 200 networks in over 50 countries, including more than 20 turnkey deliveries," he adds.

Nokia and 3G Infrastructure Services AB, a Swedish joint venture for 3G network-sharing, announced an agreement in October 2001 for the supply of Nokia 3G network infrastructure, including the exclusive supply of the UMTS core network. In addition, Nokia is supplying its radio-access network solution and providing technical network operation services.

Nokia provides a full range of support services and solutions to help mobile operators differentiate in today's fast-changing business environment. This support includes the entire process of planning, building and operating a network, optimizing network performance and creating and integrating solutions that enable new multimedia services.

Along with its global cooperation partner network, Nokia's comprehensive service support combines its experienced and committed staff and consultants worldwide and Nokia Online Services, which provides round-the-clock support via the Internet.

Nokia's 3G infrastructure is based on open standards, platforms and interfaces for a smooth evolution to commercial 3G services. It includes integrated end-to-end solutions, including charging, security, network management and service control applications. Nokia already offers a full range of support services and solutions to help network providers differentiate in today's fast-changing business environment and rapidly build out 3G networks.
