BALTIMORE, April 3, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- (WITH PHOTO) Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Electronic Systems sector has announced the appointment of Katherine A. Gray as vice president, Procurement and Material Management, effective immediately.

In her new position, Gray has executive responsibility for the sector's procurement and material strategies, programs and operations. She served most recently as director of Sector Business Operations. She succeeds Russell T. Bahner, who was recently appointed chairman of the company's e-Procurement and Materials Integrated Product Team.
Gray joined the company in 1980 as an associate engineer. She has held a number of professional and management positions in engineering, operations and programs. As a program manager, she oversaw study and development contracts for the U.S. Army and Navy and production contracts for the U.S. Postal Service.
In 1996, Gray was named department manager of Postal Systems Integration, and two years later was assigned to manage the sector's Subcontracts Management organization. She was appointed director of Sector Strategic Planning in 1999, and then director of Business Analysis and Development for the C4ISR and Naval Systems Division in 2000.
Gray holds a bachelor's degree in industrial design from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She has also completed the Executive Marketing Program at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the General Manager Program at Harvard Business School.
