COPENHAGEN, Denmark, April 9, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- TDC (NYSE:TLD) has been invited by the DB Consortium, consisting of Deutsche Bank and the Blackstone Group, to participate as strategic operator of the Cesky Telecom landline operations in the potential acquisition by the DB Consortium of Cesky Telecom in Czech Republic.
TDC is invited to participate as strategic operator with management responsibility only. Based on performance, TDC may receive shares in Cesky Telecom, enabling TDC to earn significant minority ownership over a five year period. According to the invitation, TDC will not be required to make any investment in Cesky Telecom.
As part of the potential agreement, TDC may sell its 25% ownership in Bivideon, a holding company, which controls 72% of Czech Radiokommunicace.
The invitation is currently being investigated and negotiated with the DB Consortium and a final decision will be made after a thorough analysis of the opportunity.
