Bright Star Outlines Gold Palladium Prospect

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 9, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Management of Bright Star Ventures Ltd. (CDNX:BSV) is pleased to announce that final review of exploration targets for the 2002 season is now under way on BSV's 12,000 acre (over 20 square miles) Tulameen Platinum Project. Of particular significance, Grasshopper Mountain, where two previous operators have recorded strong platinum values in dunite, is slated to receive intensive exploration to test new theories about the origin of placer platinum nuggets (20,000 oz) found in the Tulameen River and streams draining Grasshopper Mountain.

A second major target for exploration in 2002 has been designated in the gabbro rocks southeast of Olivine Mountain. This area, consisting of claim block BJP-1 and adjacent blocks, contains strong magnetic/resistivity anomalies delineated by a 2001 airborne survey.

A portion of BJP-1 was the subject of a soil-sampling geochemistry program, which returned significant copper-palladium-platinum-gold values over a 400 X 600 metre grid. In 2001, BSV conducted a prospecting program in which grab samples taken from within and north of the BJP-1 grid returned consistently high values (up to 3% copper with 2.6 g/t gold-palladium).

BSV's prospecting success infers that the previously delineated soil anomaly may be far greater in size than indicated, and the airborne data strongly suggests the possibility of bedrock-source sulphide mineralization.

Shortly, BSV will initiate an expanded soil sampling and trenching program on the South Olivine target area. Management anticipates that previously recorded values will not only be confirmed but expanded in size, thereby enhancing the target's probability of being included in this year's drilling program.
