STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 22, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Skanska assigned the legal firm, Mannheimer Swartling, to conduct an investigation into specific claims of collaboration in bidding processes that have been published by the Swedish Competition Authority. In addition, Skanska's Chairman requested a statement on the reliability and thoroughness of this investigation from Hans-Gunnar Solerud, former Justice of the Supreme Court.
A summary of Mannheimer Swartling's investigation report and Hans-Gunnar Solerud's review are enclosed.
President and CEO of Skanska, Claes Bjork commented: "It is reassuring that Mannheimer Swartling's investigation shows that the Competition Authority's suspicions of collusion in illegal collaboration cannot be confirmed."
"We have today handed over all investigation materials to the Competition Authority, which will now continue the investigation."
"We will continue strenuous efforts within the Group to actively distance ourselves from operations that hinder free competition and to limit the risk for individuals participating in or being suspected of competition-limiting actions in the future."
