GOTEBORG, Sweden, June 5, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Carmen Systems AB announces that the European airline SAS, has signed a contract worth EUR 3 million for the use of Carmen's crew planning system, Carmen Crew Rostering. The system allows SAS to increase productivity and operational stability while taking individual crew preferences into account.
As part of the crew rostering project SAS and Carmen are jointly developing a new version of Carmen's internet application, InterBids, which allows crew members to influence their monthly work schedule from anywhere in the world. In addition to increased efficiency, the rostering project also aims to increase the ability to forecast and react to changes.
"It is clear that the implementation of Carmen Crew Rostering will help us to increase productivity and more effectively meet our goals at SAS. We also expect to decrease lead-times and increase precision when evaluating future traffic and fleet programs and their implications on crew - areas that are increasingly important today," said Claes Fahrlin, Director of Flight Crew Resources at SAS.
"SAS was one of Carmen's first airline clients and we are very happy to be able to extend this successful partnership into new areas. Through advanced resource optimization, Carmen Crew Rostering is helping clients cut costs while increasing operational stability," said Per Noren, President & CEO at Carmen Systems.
