Kreatel Signs Agreement with Another Energy Supply Company

LINKOPING, Sweden, June 10, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Kreatel Communications AB has signed an agreement with yet another energy supply company. NVE, North-West Sealand energy supply company in Denmark, has decided to choose Kreatel's IP set-top box system for delivering broadband services to its subscribers.

This first contract includes 10,000 boxes and concerns 2003. During a 5- year period, NVE intends to place optical fiber to over 50,000 subscribers, Denmark's up to now largest venture of broadband to private customers. Already on the 15th of August 2002, NVE sets up a pilot test for their first 500 subscribers.

"At Kreatel Communications our broadband consultant, ToNeMe, and we found the set-top box and the know-how that contribute to generate success," said Poul-Michael La Cour, manager of NVE's FTH (Fiber-Til- Hjemmet) project.

"NVE makes a large venture and confirms our conviction that the energy supply companies all over Europe make great efforts to keep their subscribers through offering attractive TV-services on energy markets that already are or are in progress to deregulate," said Lars Bengtsson, Managing Director at Kreatel.

NVE's subscribers will be able to sign up for services like up to 20 different TV-channels, Video-on-Demand, Internet, games and music. In the future NVE also intends to offer their subscribers a service called time shifting. By storing TV-programs on a server, the viewer does not have to consider when the news or the favorite show is broadcasted instead they can watch the program whenever it is suitable for them.

About NVE

NVE was founded in 1913 and has for almost 100 years supplied 2000 sq. km of the northwestern part of Sealand with electricity. It is the vision of NVE to be the region's chosen supplier of energy, telecommunications and related services. For a number of years NVE has used optical fibres for operational control of the high voltage system, and NVE's Fibre-to-Home concept is based on this backbone network. The idea of running optical fibre cables right up to the customers' domicile arose from the fact that fibres for the home is a technique which makes allowance for the rapidly increasing need for data links with vast capacity. In connection with the decision of running cables to the homes and at the same time providing the customers with the possibility of buying a variety of services, NVE has contacted a number of suppliers of products that are outside of NVE's competences.
