VANCOUVER, B.C., July 12, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Management of Bright Star Ventures Ltd (TSX Venture Exchange:BSV) is pleased to announce that the first batch of 250 samples has been sent to Ecotech Laboratories Ltd. in Kamloops, BC for assay. Samples collected are primarily from Grasshopper Mountain target areas identified in the fall 2001 airborne EM/Mag survey. Previous drill results in the same area have indicated 3 to 5 gm/t platinum over 10 ft intervals within 500 ft. of surface. Assay results will be announced as soon as they are available.

Management Departure
The company also announces the resignation of Mr. Douglas Hickey as Vice President of Finance. Mr. Hickey was employed by the Company since August 2001 in his capacity to assist in financing for the Company. Mr. Hickey has left to pursue other opportunities.
