Soitec Announces the Denial of Post-Trial Motions in Silicon Genesis Lawsuit

BERNIN, France, Aug. 5, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Soitec, the leading producer worldwide of SOI (Silicon On Insulator) wafers, today announced that it has been informed that the court will not allow its post-trial motions to set aside certain aspects of the jury verdict and for a new trial in connection with Soitec's infringement lawsuit against Silicon Genesis Corporation.

At a hearing held in Boston on August 1, 2002, the court also indicated that it would not decide other pending motions in this case before early September.

Soitec reaffirms that it will vigorously defend its intellectual property rights against all unauthorised use to the full extent of the law. The company firmly believes that its position is correct and fully intends to appeal the aspects of the jury verdict addressed in its motion as soon as the trial court proceedings are concluded.
