The Norwegian Maritime Investigator held a Maritime Investigation related to the accident on Friday 30 August 2002 in Rotterdam. Also present was Norwegian Police Authorities, the French Transportation Department and representatives from Odfjell.
As a consequence of the statements made at the inquest in Rotterdam the Norwegian Authorities concluded yesterday to ask the Dutch authorities to extradite to Norway the officer on duty at the time of the accident. We understand that both the Norwegian and French authorities are investigating the accident.
Through the owners of the fishing vessel CISTUDE we have conveyed our deepest regrets to the next of kin and the survivors of the accident. We understand that there will be a memorial service at Les Sables D’Olonne on Monday 9 September 2002 and we have asked representatives for the Norwegian authorities to be present. Thereafter, we will start the process for liability compensation as soon as possible.
BOW EAGLE finished discharging her cargo earlier on today and the ship will now be repaired.

BOW EAGLE is a 24,728 dwt chemical tanker built in Spain in 1988. The ship is registered in the Norwegian International Ship registry (NIS) and is classed by Det Norske Veritas (DNV). BOW EAGLE has Norwegian, Filipino and Latvian crew onboard. Odfjell ASA in Bergen, Norway manages the ship commercially and technically. The ship was en route from Brazil to Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
