LINKOPING, Sweden, Sept. 10, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- AerotechTelub has received a strategically important order from the Defence Materiel Administration for a technical training system for the JAS 39 Gripen. The order value is close to SEK27M. The delivery of the system will take place successively with the final delivery during 2004.
The development will be carried out together with Saab Aerospace. The work will be conducted primarily in Arboga and Linkoping, but parts of it will also be conducted in Orebro.
"The order is strategically very important since one of the primary criteria in the Defence Materiel Administration's selection process has been that it shall be possible to adapt the system to other technical systems within the Swedish defence. We see great possibilities for several assignments for other systems as well, such as helicopters, combat vehicles and naval systems," said Lars-Erik Wige, Division Manager at AerotechTelub.
"The order further strengthens the Saab Group's position as supplier of training and support systems to the Swedish defence," said Stefan Storm, Business Unit Manager at AerotechTelub in Arboga
The training system, called GMS (General Modular Simulation system), will be used for the technical training on airport systems within the Swedish defence. The system will be based on a general development and communication platform that has been developed by AerotechTelub. The platform is used today by the Swedish defence, for example in the tactical support systems for Gripen and Viggen as well as in the development of corresponding systems for Helikopter 14.
