LOS ANGELES, Sept. 12, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Los Angeles Chapter of Financial Executives International will commence its new fiscal year dinner meeting program with Ronald L. Iden, assistant director in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Los Angeles Field Office, scheduled to address the organization at the Jonathan Club on Thursday evening, September 19, 2002.
In his after dinner presentation, Iden will review the top three priorities for the FBI in the Los Angeles area, with a particular focus on the local ramifications of counter-terrorism, counter-intelligence and cyber-crime.
A professional development session is scheduled for 5:00 p.m., prior to the dinner meeting program. Dr. Stan Stahl of Citadel Information Group will discuss the topic of "Cyber-Crime."

Iden began his career with the FBI as a special agent in May 1978, after serving for ten years as a police officer with the Elk Grove Village, Illinois Police Department. While serving in the FBI's San Antonio, Texas Division, Iden was assigned in 1979 to investigate the assassination of a federal judge, as well as the attempted assassination of a federal prosecutor. Both investigations resulted in convictions of all involved parties.
In October 1984, while assigned to the FBI's San Juan Division, he was responsible for the investigation of a Puerto Rican terrorist group's involvement in a $7 million armored car robbery in Connecticut. The investigation resulted in the indictment of 17 terrorists and the dismantling of that terrorist organization.
In April 1990, while assigned to FBI Headquarters, he was asked to supervise the Bureau's investigation of the bombing deaths of a federal judge in Birmingham, Alabama, and a civil rights attorney in Savannah, Georgia. The investigation resulted in convictions of all involved parties.
Iden served as chief of the FBI's Public Corruption Unit at FBI Headquarters during 1991 and 1992.
From 1992 to 1996, Iden served as an assistant special agent in charge of the Los Angeles Field Office. He was responsible for all violent crime investigations conducted by the FBI within the seven county Los Angeles metropolitan area.
In August 1997, Iden assumed the duties of deputy assistant director of the FBI's Information Resources Division, responsible for the Bureau's worldwide automation and information management requirements. Prior, he served for one year as section chief of the Information Resources Division's budget and personnel operations.
In March 1998, Iden was designated special agent in charge with the Los Angeles Field Office, responsible for overseeing the FBI's investigations of financial crimes, terrorism, foreign counterintelligence and civil rights matters. He was appointed to his current position with the FBI's Los Angeles Field Office on September 25, 2001.
