LOS ANGELES, Sept. 16, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Los Angeles Chapter of Financial Executives International today announced the election of Jay Panzica as president of the organization for a one-year period.
"Over the past few months a number of our committees met to prepare for the upcoming season, developing excellent dinner presentation programs and professional development seminars, networking tools and a broad array of helpful services for our members. I am honored to have been selected to serve as president of the Los Angeles Chapter of Financial Executives International this year and look forward to working with our members during these challenging and exciting economic times," Panzica said.
He currently serves as chief financial officer for Pasadena Water and Power. Panzica joined the municipal utility in 1998 to develop the financial infrastructure necessary to support the company's transition to a deregulated marketplace.
His prior experience as a senior financial professional since 1973 includes positions such as director of finance, corporate manager of capital budgets, corporate manager of business planning and regional finance manger for companies, including American Airlines, General Foods and Burroughs Computer Corporation. In addition, he served as interim chief financial officer for various small to large companies, and as a strategic planning consultant for several companies including American Honda.
Panzica earned a bachelor's degree in business administration/pre-law from Michigan State University and a master's degree in finance from Wayne State University.
The Los Angeles Chapter of Financial Executives International will commence its new fiscal year dinner meeting program at the Jonathan Club on Thursday evening, September 19, 2002, with Panzica introducing the after dinner speaker Ronald L. Iden, assistant director in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Los Angeles Field Office.
