Telia Presents New Wireless Service for Enterprises

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sept. 24, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Telia is now launching a pilot test for its new service for enterprises, Telia GPRS LAN Access. With the new service, employees of companies can easily connect to their corporate data communications networks through a GPRS terminal. TietoEnator is the first company in Sweden to test the service.

Telia GPRS LAN Access can be used on different types of GPRS terminals, such as portable computers, PDAs or mobile handsets. The service functions wherever Telia offers GSM network coverage. In Sweden, for example, the new service will more or less function on a nationwide basis.

"More and more employees in medium-size companies and large corporations want to access business-critical information wherever they are. We have noticed a growing demand for this type of wireless application," said Kelly Odell, head of Telia Mobile Sweden.

Telia GPRS LAN Access is designed for enterprises with personnel who need to access different types of information and data in local area networks when they are out of the office. The customer decides which internal systems should be available through GPRS LAN access. The following are a few examples of application areas for the new service:

--Sales people can control inventory stocks, retrieve updated
product information and place orders directly from a customer's
   premises.

--Service technicians can order spare parts, file final reports and
   receive new service call assignments.

--Employees in the logistics and transportation field can receive
information about new deliveries and addresses.

Pilot tests are planned with several more companies during the autumn. Telia expects to starting selling the new GPRS LAN access service during the fourth quarter of 2002.
