ESPOO, Finland, Oct. 2, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- The City of Vantaa in Finland is renewing both its internal and external network services. The information technology supplier chosen by Vantaa is TietoEnator, which will be responsible for designing the city's Internet service and intranet as well as specifying an e-learning solution. The services will be built on the Elevation solution developed by Visual Systems.
The renewal of network services in Vantaa will progress so that the intranet will be introduced first. The improvement of efficiency in internal communications and working methods was the most important reason for starting the intranet project, according to Director of Communications Kai Ovaskainen.
In the Internet solution being developed, the regional element plays a major role. Vantaa has five large service districts, and the aim is to develop separate portals for each district. Each will provide services especially aimed towards the residents, companies and organisations in the district in question.
