Nokia Security Developers Alliance Announces “Nokia OK” Approval of First Five Members

October 21, 2002 – (Mountain View, CA) Nokia (NYSE: NOK) today announced the initial five members of the Nokia Security Developers Alliance – FishNet Security, Open (OpenService, Inc.), Permeo, SurfControl and Tripwire.  The industry leaders are first in a series of “Nokia OK” third party software developers that have completed the “Nokia OK” testing and evaluation process for interoperability with Nokia IP security appliances.  The Nokia Security Developers Alliance program delivers interoperable security solutions that meet enterprise and service provider requirements, thus extending and optimizing their IT infrastructure investment in Nokia.

These leading applications complement Nokia’s market-leading range of firewall, Virtual Private Network (VPN) and Intrusion Protection network security appliances by running either “on” or “off-appliance”. In addition, they expand Nokia’s solutions focus to new market areas.  Broadening its appliance reach allows Nokia to satisfy an ever-increasing variety of customer use and implementation scenarios, eliminating complexity and delivering a truly comprehensive solutions-oriented approach to security. This interoperability results in flexible, customized solutions for Nokia customers and reseller partners, and improves customers’ return on investment.

“These five members are just the beginning of what has evolved into a very successful Alliance program, based on the interest we’ve received to date from customers, resellers and the developer community,” said Dave Edwards, Senior Director, Nokia Internet Communications. “Nokia best-of-breed solutions, combined with these cutting-edge applications, provide comprehensive Internet security solutions and the improved return on investment that our customers are demanding.”

With access to Nokia’s Developer Support offering and the Software Development Kit (SDK) for Nokia’s secure Operating Systems (IPSO), Nokia Security Developers Alliance members can continue to port their products to Nokia’s new and existing IP network security appliances. The porting and comprehensive validation test process ensures that products bearing the mark “Nokia OK” have been tested for security, performance, reliability and rapid deployment. Selected customers are also capitalizing on the program.
