FOERSLOEV, Sweden, Nov. 5, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Peab (Stockholm:PEABb) has won the contract to build the Multihallen conference and water recreation centre in Are. The client is Holiday Club Sweden in cooperation with Are municipal council and local trade and industry in Are. The total investment is in excess of SEK 500 million and Peab's contract is worth SEK 310 million.
Peab will build a conference hall on all-in contract, with room for up to 1,000 people, and, among other things, a spa, an adventure pool, a golf simulator, a bowling alley, and climbing walls. The centre will also house a 150-room hotel.
Construction will begin in November 2002 and it is estimated that the centre will be ready to open by Christmas 2004. The contract will bring Are 200 new jobs.
"Are has all the prerequisites to develop into a very attractive tourist resort. Cooperation between the council and local trade and industry is very good, as the current project shows. Are will be very will equipped to host the World Alpine Skiing Championships in 2007," commented Peab CEO Mats Paulsson.
