New Appointments at the Swedish National Debt Office

Erik Thedéen will work closely with Thomas Franzén, Director General, on policy issues. The IT, Administration and Financial Accounting Departments will report to him. Erik Thedéen has been head of the Debt Management Department since 2000. He has broad financial markets experience from both JP Bank and prior to that, the Riksbank.

The Government has changed the instruction for the Debt Office. Instead of the Government, the Director General now appoints his second in command. "Ingrid Bonde was named Deputy Director General in accordance with my wishes, so the new instruction does not involve any change in practice," says Thomas Franzén, Director General. However, the title will be easier to understand.

General Counsel Anne Gynnerstedt will be given increased responsibility, with the Back Office and Risk Management Departments reporting to her. They previously reported to the Deputy Director General. The reason for the change is that the Debt Office wants to make a clear distinction between operational and auditing functions. Anne Gynnerstedt has been General Counsel for six months and previously worked at SAS.

Christine Holm will become head of the department responsible for borrowing from smaller investors and households. This function was previously part of the larger Debt Management Department, where she was Director and Deputy Head. The change is warranted by the sharp increase in interest in the savings options offered by the Debt Office. Christine Holm has long and broad experience working on borrowing issues for the Debt Office.

Pending recruitment of a new head of the department responsible for borrowing on the institutional markets, Erik Thedéen will manage this department until further notice.
