Telia Mobile Finland picks Nokia to provide its multimedia messaging and service charging solutions

Nokia and Telia Mobile Finland have agreed on the supply of a complete Nokia multimedia messaging service (MMS) solution, as well as the Nokia Charging Center (NCC) for state-of-the-art charging for services.  The MMS system is already in use with Telia Mobile Finland's commercial MMS service.

The MMS solution provided by Nokia includes the Nokia Multimedia Messaging Service Center (MMSC), the Nokia Multimedia Terminal Gateway for support of non-MMS phones, as well as the Nokia WAP Gateway and the Nokia Profiler Server.

In addition Nokia will provide system implementation, integration and care services to maintain the competitiveness of the MMS solution.

The market-leading Nokia MMS solution allows Telia Mobile Finland customers with MMS-capable phones to exchange rich multimedia messages containing text, images, graphics, voice, and audio clips.  Thanks to the Nokia Multimedia Terminal Gateway multimedia messages can also be sent to legacy phones that are not MMS-capable.

The Nokia Charging Center is a comprehensive charging solution for MMS as well as for SMS, GPRS access and other data services such as content downloading.  The NCC supports charging of both prepaid and postpaid customers and meets the challenges of next-generation networks and services by providing sophisticated charging based on metrics such as data volume, content and quality of service.

"Multimedia messaging is already becoming a way of life for many people in Finland, and our customers are at the forefront of this trend," says Riikka Temonen, Director, Telia Mobile Finland.  "We are very satisfied with the solution and support from Nokia.  Telia customers will benefit from an MMS system that is well-proven and robust."

"We happy to be closely involved in Telia Mobile Finland's launch of MMS," says Timo Koistinen, Account Director, Nokia Networks.  "The MMS solution we have provided is bringing Telia's Finnish customers the best possible multimedia messaging, while our charging solution is helping Telia to make the most of their messaging offering with flexible and efficient service charging."

Nokia has among the wireless industry's most extensive track record in MMS with over 40 customers to date and an ever-growing number of launched systems, making multimedia messaging a reality for today's mobile consumers.
