CUPERTINO, Calif., Jan. 14, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Riverhead Networks, a leading provider of Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) protection solutions that ensure business continuity for ISPs, data centers and large enterprises, today announced the appointment of Michael G. Albers to vice president of sales for North America. Albers will report to the CEO and oversee the company's North American sales operations from Riverhead's Virginia office.
Albers, 41, brings Riverhead 20 years experience in networking and telecommunications sales. Prior to joining Riverhead, he held senior sales positions at Tellium, Lucent Technologies/Ascend Communications, Wellfleet/Bay Networks, 3Com and Hewlett Packard, where he built successful domestic and international sales teams. His expertise lies in sales, sales force creation and management, strategic alliance building, and strategic planning. Albers has a successful track record in attaining revenue goals globally in the commercial, government, ILEC and ISP markets. Albers earned his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.
"I'm enthusiastic about supporting Riverhead's mission to deliver security for the Internet infrastructure," said Albers. "So many recent DDoS attacks have highlighted the vulnerability of individual e-commerce organizations as well as network infrastructure providers. Riverhead's solutions protect e-commerce internet data centers as well as providers' own networks."
"Michael has great experience building and leading successful sales teams with a hands-on approach," said Yuval Rachmilevitz, CEO at Riverhead Networks. "His industry expertise will be a great asset to our customers and we are pleased to have him on board."
