`Double Standards' -- One man's battle with the telephone system as waged in new novel

SARASOTA, Fla., January 21, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- James Antonio was fired from his job when he refused to wear a tie to work; he went on to file a sex discrimination suit against the company. "Double Standards" (now available through 1stBooks Library), by James Anthony, is Antonio's story.

The novel follows his struggle through five years (1973-1978) as his journey for justice changes his life, relationships and psyche. Included in the text are actual court documents and dialogue. His search for self-awareness, truth and inner peace abound throughout the book.

The reader travels throughout a myriad of locales as the author follows Antonio's search within. Like an untamed river, the plot begins in Indianapolis, Indiana, and stretches out in all directions, as aimless as Antonio is anxious, to find himself among the wilds of life and lies.

This novel is a tear in the fabric of a crooked justice system and corrupted Corporate America. A fascinating read, "Double Standards" tells the remarkable story of one individual who refused to step aside and chose instead to fight for his constitutional rights.

James Anthony was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1943. After a two-year stint as an army paratrooper, he attended Indiana University in Bloomington, majoring in philosophy and business. From there, he joined the corporate world as a Yellow Pages representative for the Bell Telephone System; it was here that he challenged the age-old corporate rule of neckties for men. He was fired for it and later went on to file a sex discrimination lawsuit against them. He now resides in Sarasota, Florida, with his wife Pam and their two daughters.
