``A Seed in Time'' -- New book about the oldest civilization in existence

HOUSTON, Jan. 24, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- In 1853, Frank Lupo vanished in full view of his wife, Josie, and four friends. However, they would never know the full extent of what happened to him that day. Indeed, the answers to the Lupo mystery came with the passage of time and the involvement of people not yet born. "A Seed in Time" by S.J. Di Maggio (now available through 1stBooks Library) tells his story.

The Arthelings had been exploring space for seventy years when they discovered a planet its people called Earth. Because of its many similarities to their planet, Arthe, they became interested in Earth, and its people. The inhabitants of the Earth parallel Arthelings in their early physical development, and were identical in their contemporary appearance. The Arthelings, sympathetic with the beings they found on this newly discovered world; their strenuous effort to survive; the likeness to their own beginnings, soon gave birth to the experiment they referred to as planting a seed in time. The experiment, that had its beginning at the start of human history, would last a million years.

Having worked with my hands most of my life, it was most unlikely for me to pick up the pen. I owned and successfully operated a full service restaurant, fast food restaurant, carcare center, and a photographic studio. I worked for NASA, in the Photographic Division, during the space craze when the eyes of the world focused on Houston. Categorically, the writing experience is the most challenging and the most rewarding; it started with a phone call from my son, Joe:

"Hey dad, you want my old computer" I got a new one.

Fast-forward two weeks; I'm sitting in front of a monitor being intimidated. "This thing isn't so smart," I told my wife Sharon, "it can only do what you tell it to do."

"Yea, well tell it to do something." She said, intending to be witty, but it sounded more like sarcasm to me.

"I will!" I said, and I did; and I hope you like it.
