INSURANCES COVER DAMAGES AT KEMIRA TIO2 PLANT FIRE IN PORI


The fire is now under control at Kemira's titanium dioxide pigment plant in Pori. The fire had started at the roof of the plant's calcination unit. There were no injuries to personnel. Financial losses and damages to property cannot be estimated for the moment.
 
Insurances will cover for damage to property and financial losses incurred due to production being brought down.
 
The company's maximum deductible payment totals EUR 4 mill. in cases of business interruption and property damages.
 
Kemira's titanium dioxide pigment plant in Pori produces pigments for uses in paints, printing inks and plastics. The plant's production is exported for the most part.
