ATLANTA, Feb. 11, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- CES International, a developer of operations and network-management software for the utility industry, has named Timothy Harvey chief executive officer and president.
Harvey comes to CES International following a six-year stint with SynQuest Inc., acquired by Viewlocity Inc. in November 2002. As president and chief operating officer at SynQuest, he led the supply-chain software developer to significant customer wins and, in 2000, to a successful initial public offering.
Harvey, 45, brings his proven leadership skills to CES International as the company rolls out its new Energy Delivery Management (EDM) software suite. The result of more than two years of research and development, EDM builds on the strength of CES International's industry-leading Centricity solution, the operations software choice of more than 40 distribution utilities serving 35 million customers on five continents.
CES International's customer base includes many of the world's largest blue-chip utilities including Atlanta-based Southern Company, Baltimore Gas & Electric, Cinergy, ConEd, Northern Ireland Electricity, Toronto Hydro, United Energy of Australia, Xcel Energy and many others.
CES International's EDM solution represents an entirely new framework for the integrated, real-time management of electrical-distribution networks. EDM offers distribution utilities an information infrastructure to assimilate new power technology, provide additional customer service options, reduce operational costs, and deliver on environmental and reliability commitments.

Harvey has significant experience in the enterprise software industry. Before his time at SynQuest, Harvey spent eight years at enterprise-software vendor Datalogix International -- acquired by Oracle Corp. in 1996 -- most recently as vice president of worldwide field operations, and earlier as vice president of sales. From 1982 to 1988, Harvey held various positions at Atlanta-based applications provider Management Science America Inc.
Harvey served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps as an officer after he received a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Florida in 1978.
