NYKOPING, Sweden, Feb. 13, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- CTT Systems (Stockholm:CTT) announced that Transavia Airlines has ordered its Zonal Drying(TM) System for four (4) B737-700 and sixteen (16) B737-800 aircrafts. This is the first retrofit order for the system that is now designed to meet Boeing's requirements for a future installation during the manufacturing process. Boeing earlier announced the future availability of such Customer Option on the aircraft where the system will be installed as Buyer Furnished Equipment. Delivery is planned for the spring of 2003. The Zonal Drying System eliminates condensation of water from the air in the cabin on the aircraft structure. This will reduce the maintenance cost during the periodic hangar inspections. The Zonal Drying (TM)System is presently operated in approximately 100 aircraft.
"Transavia requested that CTT and Boeing together redesign the Zonal Drying(TM) System so it could be offered as an optional system for new B737NG aircraft," said Arthur van der Wal, VP Fleet Management for Transavia Airlines. "Transavia salutes both Boeing and CTT in achieving this important goal for the airlines by working together."

The Zonal Drying(TM) System is the only solution that solves the problem of condensation in aircraft. It injects very dry air between the side wall material and the body skin. When standard cabin air reaches that skin, the humidity in that air is attracted by the extreme cold skin metal and condenses. It is then further iced up and in the decent it melts again. That water is now routed to drain valves in the bottom of the fuselage. Needles to say that it represents weight, that is growing during flight and burns therefore additional fuel. A wide body aircraft can be carrying a half-ton of water and ice that has condensed from the humidity generated mostly by the passengers. Airlines also incur increased maintenance costs due to this problem, and periodic inspections are mandated to see if there is any signs of damage that might be caused by the water that might not follow the designed drain path correctly. With the Zonal Drying(TM) System system the designers have found the solution to start at the cause of the problem and not to bring any other air than very dry air in that area of the cold skin. It even improves the humidity in the passenger cabin slightly as the humidity taken out, is dumped in the cabin.
