Life In A Small Town -- Humorous fiction novel exposes life in a small town

LUBBOCK, Texas, April 2, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Life in a small town is often perceived to be mundane, even dull. However, it is often in the most lackluster places that one can find extraordinary people. This is certainly true in Arthur Bundrant's newly released novel, God's Little Village (now available through 1stBooks Library). The novel follows the trail of a Mackenzie High School band director, Kaleb Korn.

Fresh out of college, Korn appreciates the small, quiet town. He likes the school, the cafeteria food is edible, and the pay is "slim, but adequate." There is only one problem: his students hate him. With high ideas and great plans, he begins his first year of teaching with a bang. Literally.

Korn is hospitalized after a he is shot in the "butt" by a drug dealer. The event leaves four wounded. With wacky teachers, homemade preachers, farmers, illegal aliens and dance band musicians, Korn may be way in over his head.

Bundrant also introduces several surprising characters such as the lady wrestler turned secretary, Helen "Butch" Cassidy, and Coach "Loser" Jones, whose team has lost every game they've played for the past several years. God's Little Village is witty and unique. Drawing on his own background for ideas, Bundrant has created a colorful story about real life in a small, but fictional, west Texas town.

Bundrant is a current resident of Lubbock, Texas. He has been a farmer, house painter, performance musician and band director. In addition to God's Little Village, Bundrant has published two young adult mystery novels, including The Secret of the Old Patio and The Mystery of the Missing Myna. He has also written over 150 articles and stories, which have been published in various magazines and newspapers.
