STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 22, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Intentia International AB (publ.) (Other OTC:IAINF) (XSSE:INTB) announces that Brunner Mond, one of the world's leading manufacturers and suppliers of soda ash and associated alkaline products, has selected Intentia as the prime contractor for its business systems replacement project. The contract worth Euro 1.8 million signed in the first quarter was awarded to Intentia following a rigorous selection process.Intentia proposed a maintenance-centric solution that will deliver Movex to 400 users across all of Brunner Mond's European operations - its two plants in Northwich, Cheshire and the one in Delfzijl, the Netherlands.
The new system will support the company's marketing and supply chain processes, financial activities, and manufacturing and procurement processes in the UK and the Netherlands. The strength of Movex's maintenance, procurement and supply chain management functionality combined with Intentia's ability to deliver and complemented by their high quality personnel, were key to its selection. The brief for the contract also includes an extensive staff training program and a requirement for consultants with experience of the chemical and process industry.
George Williams, Brunner Mond Director of Information Systems, said: "Mutually beneficial relationships with our customers and suppliers are our highest priorities. We were determined to introduce a new, integrated business system which would focus on those two priorities and which would bring business-wide benefits and efficiencies.
"In many areas of operation, our business lends itself to a Web-enabled collaborative trading process with our key customers and suppliers. We believe that Intentia is the right partner to help us move forward and we look forward to a successful relationship with them."
"Brunner Mond conducted a very rigorous and professional selection process and I believe it was a number of factors that helped us to emerge as their partner at the end. These include our product functionality that is especially relevant for an asset intensive production plant, our technology to successfully deploy international projects cost effectively, our people and their relevant industry knowledge, but perhaps most importantly of all it was the desire of our two companies to relentlessly pursue the perfect partnership," concludes Cormac Watters, Business Unit Director at Intentia UK.
"Companies in process manufacturing industries need to look for solutions that not only satisfy the sourcing and distribution requirements, but also what happens within the plant after hours. The Asset Management dimension is critical to ensure that the plant and equipment is available to process product for profit," said Kristian Steenstrup, Gartner Inc.
