Nokia at TeleManagement World in Nice - Nokia demonstrates its expertise in Operations Support Systems

Nokia today unveiled a selection of products and solutions, highlighting its commitment to openness, mobile service quality and the technology and service evolution at TeleManagement World 2003 in Nice, France.  A selection of Operations Support Systems  (OSS) products underlining Nokia's expertise in service management and subscription management are on show.  Nokia Operations Solutions, combining the strengths of Nokia NetAct(TM) with expert operator services, are also illustrated.

"Our multinetwork, multiservice and multitechnology network and service management systems, combined with network performance optimization, operations support and operations development services form the basis of our Operations Solutions. They demonstrate our continuing commitment based on years of experience to help operators achieve the most cost-efficient solution for their network and service management operations based on open standards," says Urs Pennanen, Director, Sales & Marketing, Operations Solutions, Nokia Networks."

"We believe that they will not only help operators reduce their OPEX but will have a permanent, positive impact on cash flow," adds Pennanen.

During the event, Nokia is showing live demos of a selection of compelling Nokia OSS products. Included in these demos is Nokia NetAct ATM Manager (created in collaboration with Tellabs), which is a unified network manager that enables faster 3G service provisioning. It will benefit mobile operators with lower operating costs through advanced future-proof ATM circuit configuration and a smooth evolution to new services.

The Nokia demonstrations also emphasize Nokia's involvement in the OSS through Java(TM) Initiative (OSS/J). Nokia Subscription Manager supports the fast introduction of new services with a single system for provisioning subscribers and new mobile multimedia services. This demonstration highlights how a selfcare application uses an open OSS/J interface for dynamic subscription management and personalization.

Furthermore, Nokia addresses topical issues such as service topology management. Nokia is introducing the concept of Service Topology Manager, which is based on the ongoing work in the Nokia-led TeleManagement Forum Service Model Framework (SMF) project. The objective of the SMF project is to create a model framework enabling the quick introduction of new mobile services and the management of those services.

In addition, Nokia Terminal Management Server (NTMS), which provides support for the easy service activation and configuration of the subscriber's mobile phone and thus accelerated rollout of new services, is demonstrated on the Nokia stand.
