Jaakko Pöyry Group strengthens its know-how in transportation consulting

BPI-Consult GmbH, which is part of the Jaakko Pöyry Group's Infrastructure & Environment business group, has acquired 74 per cent of the shares in TransTec Consult GmbH, Germany. TransTec Consult specialises in operation, system and organisation consulting for light rail train systems. The company is active in Germany as well as internationally. BPI-Consult GmbH has previously acquired the railway design business of TransTec Consult GmbH.

The seller of the shares and the business is TransTec Beteiligungs- und Management GmbH, which is a subsidiary of ÜSTRA. ÜSTRA is the urban mass transit operator of Hannover with whom co-operation will be continued. The acquired operations currently employ about 25 experts in Hannover. Net sales amount to EUR 3 million.

These acquisitions will further increase the Infrastructure & Environment business group's strong involvement in urban mass transit projects. They will also improve the business group's position in the fast-growing transportation market. Activities are especially concentrated on the markets in Europe, Asia and Latin America, where assignments were obtained recently for light rail train systems in Maracaibo and Valencia, Venezuela.

The Jaakko Pöyry Group's Infrastructure & Environment business group uses the brand name Jaakko Pöyry Infra. Its net sales for 2002 were EUR 123 million. The business group has offices in 12 countries and it employs 1350 experts worldwide.
