Mountain View, Calif.- June 16, 2003 - Nokia (NYSE:NOK) today announced the Nokia Secure Access System, a unique remote access solution leveraging ubiquitous Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology running on Nokia's widely accepted IP Security Platforms. Nokia Secure Access System combines Nokia software with its proven purpose built appliance hardware, secure operating system (IPSO), and systems management - complementing an existing portfolio of IP security appliances and enterprise Mobile Connectivity solutions.

Additionally, Nokia has added features that set its clientless remote access offering apart from other SSL VPN offerings currently on the market."
The industry-first features Nokia has built into the new Secure Access System allow enterprises to take advantage of the ubiquity of SSL browsers, while maintaining network integrity. These features include:
- Client Integrity Scan, which automatically performs a customizable vulnerability check on the user's device to establish the level of trust, and then combines that information with the user's identity to automatically adjust access privileges.
- Advanced Access Control, enabling IT departments to roll out cost effective remote access services based on SSL, while ensuring the corporate security policy is enforced. This feature uniquely automatically adjusts user access privileges based on the user's identity, the device being used, and the security of the device at time of access.
- Session Persistence, which allows users to resume work without losing data in the event that an SSL session times out.
Using the new Secure Access System, end users can leverage corporate devices to confidently access applications at a hotel or through a Wi-Fi provider. The solution also supports employees using non-corporate devices at home or at a public Internet terminal, as well as partners, suppliers and contractors requiring secure access to specific applications or limited areas of the network. This "user-to-content" access applies to Web-enabled intranets and extranets, client server applications, and the ability to download and upload FTP, HTTP, Windows and Unix NFS. It also supports common authentication methods and client certificates, including RADIUS, LDAP, NT Domains, NIS and SecurID.
In addition, Nokia Secure Access System allows for business continuity in unexpected circumstances, such as severe weather, health alert or national emergency. It provides simplified management with administration capabilities at the server and no need to deploy or administer remote client software.
With today's announcement, Nokia now provides a leading and comprehensive product portfolio and strategic approach to Mobile Connectivity for the enterprise. In addition to the new Nokia Secure Access System, Nokia's Mobile Connectivity portfolio includes, IPSec VPN Client (e.g., for PCs and laptops), IPSec VPN Client for mobile devices (e.g., Series 60 phones such as the Nokia 7650 and 3650 as well as the Nokia 9200 Communicator).
Further, via the company's recent acquisition of Eizel Technologies, Nokia's Mobile Connectivity portfolio now includes real-time interactive access to virtually any content on small screen, browser-enabled devices such as PDA's, mobile phones, etc. This solution, which uniquely optimizes content on the fly to maximize the viewing quality on hand-held devices, will be released in Q3 of this year.
