Kenneth Plotkin, President and CEO of Hauppauge Digital Inc., Discusses His Company's Product Line and Industry's Growth Potential in wallst.net Interview

NEW YORK, June 23, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Dedicated to merging television and computing, the Long Island, NY-based Hauppauge Digital Inc. (Nasdaq:HAUP), which was started in 1992, specializes in their WIN TV line of products which allows users to watch television on their PC monitor without compromising the performance of their Internet connection, or speed of their computer, Plotkin told www.wallst.net.

The WIN TV line, which has sold approximately 3 million units worldwide in the last several years utilizes signals from a satellite dish or cable network, to form a small window displaying television shows on a computer screen, he added.

Making a solid dent in the European market, Plotkin said Germany is among the company's leading retail markets. The company's European market product line is manufactured in Europe, while the product line for their Asian and U.S. markets are manufactured in Asia.

Within the next five years, Plotkin predicted an "exciting time moving forward," alluding to the shift from analog to digital in television. The shift "opens up possibilities for our digital TV receivers," he said, adding that it would be "a nice market for us." Plotkin also mentioned that his R & D department is working diligently to create products geared for PCs that are primarily used as media storage devices, including video recording software.

Among the company's competition is the Canada based-ATI Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq:ATYT), which has a product line which allows television signals to be captured on PCs, but "we believe our competitors don't really treat this with a lot of emphasis," he said, referring to Hauppauge Digital Inc.'s exclusive interest in the merging of PCs and television signals.
