MEDIA ADVISORY, July 15, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Association for Women in Technology hosts `Computer Fun Badge' workshop for Junior Girl Scouts
WHAT: The Association for Women in Technology, Southern
California (AWT), a local non-profit organization
dedicated to serving the advancement of women and girls in
all fields of technology, will host the second of three
summer workshops for members of the Girl Scout Council of
Orange County this Saturday, July 19, 2003 at Ascolta in
Irvine. The "Computer Fun Badge" Workshop for Junior Girl
Scouts is designed to teach girls how computers can help
them to work faster and "smarter." Participants will
discover a variety of ways to use computers and how
technology will aid them in the future. The "Computers in
Every Day Life Interest Project Workshop" for Cadette and
Senior Girl Scouts will take place on Saturday August 16,
2003 at Fluor Corporation in Aliso Viejo. AWT's summer
workshops allow the girls to complete various requirements
to earn Brownie, Junior, and Cadette and Senior recognitions
while learning about technology and various careers in
technical fields.
The cost of the workshop is $10 per girl. There is a limit
of 20 participants for each workshop, so girls are
encouraged to register early. To register a Junior Girl
Scout for this workshop or a Cadette or Senior Girl Scout
for the August workshop, please call Lesley Finch, Program
Specialist for the Girl Scout Council of Orange County, at
(714) 979-7900 ext. 318 or email LFinch@gscoc.org. To help
as an AWT Girl Scout Workshop volunteer, please contact
Cynthia Cotteta, AWT President at 949-496-1200 or email
cynthia@awtsocal.org.
WHO: As a dynamic forum for networking and learning
opportunities, AWT bridges the gap between industry,
education and community institutions and continues to
strengthen the fabric of our Southern California technology
region. AWT holds meetings and events every month,
attracting women in every area of technology, from those
just entering the field to senior level management and
technology innovators. To learn more about AWT, please
