Former BMG Music and Napster Executive Has Big Plans for New Music Download Site

Brooks was most recently the Vice President of Creative for BMG Music Publishing and, prior to that, the Vice President of Marketing for Napster, Inc.

Brooks began her career as a club DJ in New York and Paris. Her first industry job was as a product manager at PolyGram Records in New York, from which she went on to head the company's international marketing department in London. She has held senior marketing and A&R positions at Virgin Records America and at Sony Music, and has worked with artists including Bon Jovi, John Mellencamp, Fiona Apple, and Moby. At Napster, Brooks was a member of the founding management team. As head of marketing and corporate strategy, she led PR and early financing, and managed the brand from a user base of one million to over forty million registered users. Brooks' work at Napster won her the award for Best Guerrilla Marketing from WIRED magazine. At BMG, she ran the publishing company's North American creative operations, signing songwriters including Cypress Hill and the Matrix. Brooks is a practiced public speaker who has appeared at many marketing, branding, and music conferences and has been featured in top business and consumer publications including The Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek, Fortune, and USA Today.
