HERNDON, Va., Sept. 4, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Information Technology (IT) sector has named David W. Zolet to the newly created position of vice president, Homeland Security. Zolet will report to Herb Anderson, president, Northrop Grumman IT.

Zolet will also serve as Northrop Grumman's lead corporate executive for homeland security solutions and business development. As such, he will chair the company's inter-sector homeland security executive council, leading the development of strategic methodology for working with multiple missions, customers and functions.
Most recently, Zolet was vice president and general manager of Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems sector's Civil Systems Division, a major supplier of command and control centers to the public safety community as well as a leading provider of systems integration and information technology solutions to state and local governments.
He recently co-chaired the Republican Main Street Partnership's Homeland Security Task Force. Zolet also serves as the Northrop Grumman IT representative to the Northern Virginia Roundtable.
"Dave is an experienced executive who is well prepared to assume these responsibilities and to lead Northrop Grumman's initiatives in the homeland security market," said Anderson.
Prior to his current position, Zolet served as director of Intelligence and Defense Information Systems Operations in the Intelligence Systems Division of TRW.
Zolet joined TRW in 1983 and has held positions of increasing responsibility. He has almost two decades of experience in engineering, strategic planning, business development, government relations, and program and general management. His background includes design, development, deployment and operations of complex signal processing, geolocation and communication systems for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
In 1994, Zolet was selected to participate in the Congressional Fellow's Program sponsored by the Brookings Institution, a Washington, D.C.-based independent, nonpartisan organization devoted to research, analysis, education, and publication focused on public policy issues in the areas of economics, foreign policy and governance. During this one-year fellowship, he worked for U.S. Rep. Amory Houghton, Jr.
Zolet earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in electrical engineering from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
