Communications Research Awarded Municipal Video Surveillance Project

MAHWAH, N.J., Sept. 29, 2003 (PRIMEZONE)-- Communications Research, Inc. (Pink Sheets:CRHI) announced they have been awarded a municipal video surveillance project based on a unique application of digital technology. The system solution developed by and awarded to Communications Research is the first ever known to use a high speed Internet interconnection from a local cable TV provider to transmit video signals, within a municipality, to a local police station for monitoring using IP (Internet Protocol) standards for dedicated permanent link connections. Recently having tested the approach, the successful implementation of this system is likely to lead to project awards nationally since it revolutionizes the cost structure for distant video monitoring and control. While not part of this initial deployment, the system also has the ability to include one or two way paging, remote video control and alarm activation, all in band with the video stream.

This unique solution to remote municipal video surveillance was engineered, and the system will be integrated for use, by Communications Research, Inc., using Baxall USA digital video cameras. Carl Ceragno, President and Project Engineer stated, "We are pleased to have been awarded the project but even more important, it opens the doors to the use of the Internet as a practical 'no or low cost' alternate to reoccurring monthly high speed digital line charges for municipalities requiring visual surveillance in their community. This most certainly will open a multi-million dollar market in the near future for us and Baxall."

Baxall USA, Inc. is the U.S. arm of British CCTV manufacturer, Baxall Ltd., a leading supplier of network video surveillance products, high quality CCTV equipment and video network solutions. From cameras, switchers and receivers to the most complex systems dealing with thousands of cameras, Baxall, for over 20 years, has offered the most innovative range of CCTV products available. Committed to ensuring the highest standards are maintained from the design and development team right through their unrivalled after-sales service and support, the company has gained an enviable reputation within the security industry, nationally and internationally, for reliability and value for the money. Their products are continually evolving to take advantage of the latest developments in this high technology industry.

Communications Research identified and targeted selected projects related to Homeland Security that would benefit most from their background and experience as engineers, integrators and project managers, using digitally compressed audio and video over LANS, WANS and MANS to provide efficient, cost effective security and video surveillance solutions to its clients. The company will continue to work with Baxall on other projects in CCTV video surveillance requiring a high quality, low cost alternative to potential clients who are considering remote monitoring using either high cost digital transmission or low quality slow scan solutions.
