California's Economic and Financial Crisis Addressed by Speaker at Los Angeles Chapter of Financial Executives International


LOS ANGELES, Oct. 15, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- The monthly meeting of the Los Angeles Chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI) will be held this Thursday, October 16, 2003, and focus on the "Roadmap to Reform: Common-Sense Solutions to California's Economic and Financial Crisis." Featured speaker will be George Passantino of the public policy think tank organization Reason Foundation of Los Angeles, who will address California's business environment in the wake of the recent recall election. The program will start at 6 p.m., in the Third Floor Reagan Dining Room at the Jonathan Club, 545 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles.

Passantino, director of government affairs, is responsible for converting Reason's policy ideas into workable, real-world policy change through direct interaction with public officials and key stakeholder organizations. He has authored several studies on the precept that California is in need of fundamental economic, legislative and regulatory reform.

During his career, Passantino has served as a legislative consultant to the California State Legislature and was instrumental in the 1996 passage of California's Megan's Law, requiring dangerous sex offenders to register with local law enforcement agencies.

Prior to Passantino's presentation, FEI also will host a seminar on "Excel -- Unleashing the Hidden Productivity" beginning at 5 p.m. as part of its continuing series on professional development. The seminar will be led by Eric Augusta, an independent consultant who specializes in Excel productivity solutions and education. Augusta is a Microsoft Certified Excel expert, a UCLA Extension instructor in Excel Financial Modeling and Productivity, and has more than 25 years of corporate finance experience.
