This certification follows Trintech's success in being the first company to receive acquirer approval for its integrated point-of-sale EMV Chip and PIN solution.
The widespread migration of card payments to PIN validation rather than signature is a major deterrent against fraud. This migration requires retailers to deploy PIN Pads that allow customers to enter a PIN number instead of a signature. Visa has set a global standard for PIN Pad security to ensure PIN numbers are handled securely and remain private at point-of-sale. All newly deployed PIN Pads must meet VISA PED requirements by 1st January 2004.
Trintech is well known for its expertise in PIN Pad security and has used its experience to ensure that its product range meets the very highest security standards. It's PayWare Smart 5000 and Compact 950 have advanced tamper-proof mechanisms to safeguard against any physical or electronic attack and to help prevent the PIN from being compromised.
