All original Nokia batteries fulfil stringent safety and quality requirements

Today, Test-Aankoop, a Belgian consumer organization, issued a press release claiming three of Nokia's batteries (Nokia BML-3, BMC-3 and BLC-2) are not protected against shortcircuiting. This claim is false. All Nokia batteries are designed and manufactured adhering to stringent safety and quality measures, including short circuit protection. All Nokia batteries adhere to very strict requirements regarding the materials and insulation used, in addition to continuous production control and intensive product testing. Nokia and its suppliers invest a great deal in research and development to constantly safeguard and improve the quality and safety in all Nokia products.

Over the past months, there have been cases of non-original mobile phone batteries exploding, causing damage to both batteries and phones. In each and every reported case, the battery in question has been a non-original battery.

Nokia continues to offer its full cooperation to authorities in taking legal measures available against companies or individuals that sell and distribute non-original mobile phone enhancements compatible to Nokia products that do not adhere to the stringent safety and quality measures.
