MELBOURNE, Fla., Nov. 7, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) today announced the appointment of two vice presidents, one each for two key U.S. Air Force programs based at the company's Airborne Ground Surveillance and Battle Management Systems (AGS&BMS) business unit here.

Jerry Madigan is vice president and integrated product team leader for Northrop Grumman's E-10A Multi-sensor Command and Control Aircraft (MC2A) program. Dave Nagy is vice president and integrated product team leader for the company's Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS) program.
Since 1985, Northrop Grumman has been the prime contractor for the Air Force's Boeing 707-based Joint STARS aircraft, an airborne battle management and ground surveillance system. The company also leads development for the new E-10A, which builds upon Joint STARS capabilities and provides the Air Force with enhanced air-to-ground and air-to-air wide-area surveillance capabilities.

Madigan joined Northrop Grumman in 1988 as a systems engineer in Melbourne. He was later appointed engineering manager for the Joint STARS Self Defense Suite, Mixed Mode Communications, and the follow-on full-scale development contract. Madigan was also program manager for the Joint STARS Radar integrated product team and was engineering manager for the Radar Technology Insertion Program (RTIP). He was later appointed to lead the MP-RTIP program.
Before joining Northrop Grumman, Madigan served in the Air Force at Hanscom AFB as a systems engineer stationed, working on the E-3 AWACS program and C3I intelligence systems. He earned a master's degree in engineering management from Western New England College and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
In his new role, Nagy assumes responsibility, authority and accountability for the cost, schedule and technical performance of the company's Joint STARS program. He is focused on delivering the final two production aircraft and continuing to meet the Air Force's Joint STARS Total System Support Responsibility program requirements in order to provide the highest system-capability level to commanders in the field.
Nagy joined Northrop Grumman in October 1999 as vice president of business development for the AGS&BMS business area. Prior to joining the company, he served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force where he retired as Brigadier General. His broad range of assignments included Air Combat Command, Materiel Command, and U.S. Air Force headquarters and serving as the mission area director for information dominance, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition. Nagy earned a bachelor's degree in computer science and mathematics from the Air Force Academy and a master's degree in computer science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
