MALMO, Sweden, Nov. 14, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Teleca has been selected by US based IXI Mobile Inc to develop a reference design for a mobile multi media terminal, which will be used by their customers. The multi media terminal is scheduled for launch in the first quarter 2004.
Teleca's assignment includes the responsibility to develop a reference design and producing the first series of the mobile multi messaging terminal. Teleca will perform the electronic hardware design and takes the overall responsibility to manage the industrial and mechanical design, the manufacturing and supply chain set up.
The mobile multi media terminal, which enables instant messaging, e-mail and SMS is designed to be used in a so called, PAN, A Personal Area Network. A PAN connects several mobile devices, such as watches, pens, cellular phones, multi media terminals, gaming boards and cameras. The connection to the network combines mobile standards such as GSM, GPRS and CDMA and short distance standards such as Bluetooth and WiFi.
