SOLNA, Sweden, Nov. 17, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Following a review of the previously conducted tendering process, NCC has been commissioned to extend Aranas High School in Kungsbacka. The order, which was placed by Kungsbacka Municipality, is worth approximately SEK 233 million.
The initial tendering process regarding a comprehensive extension of Aranas High School in Kungsbacka was conducted in spring 2003. NCC requested that the County Administrative Court in Halland conduct a review of the tendering process, as the company believed that the process had been conducted in contravention of the European Union's fundamental legal principles of transparency and fair and equal treatment. A new tendering process has now been completed, following which NCC has been assigned a turnkey contract to implement this prestigious extension project.
"The project, which was designed by Wingards Arkitektkontor AB, will be a stimulating challenge," said Business Manager Dan Aronsson. "It is also such a large project that it will help secure employment within the local unit."
The extension of Aranas High School is the first construction phase of a comprehensive transformation of the Aranas district. The entire program includes integration of Kungsbacka Theater, with approximately 500 seats, with the High School. Following its extension, the High School will have the capacity for about 1,600 pupils.
Work on the project will commence in December 2003 and is scheduled for completion during spring 2006. A total of about 50 employees will be engaged in the project.
