Telelogic Announces Enhanced SYNERGY/CM Integration with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003

Unlocks Full Task-Based Configuration Management Benefits to Improve Project Collaboration for Distributed Teams and Simplify Parallel Development

MALMO, Sweden and IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 17, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Telelogic (Stockholm:TLOG), the leading global provider of solutions for advanced systems and software development, today announced integration between Telelogic SYNERGY/CM 6.3 and Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003.

A beta version is available now.

According to numerous industry analysts firms SYNERGY/CM is the leading task-based configuration management solution on the market. Compared to file-based systems, the task-based approach to configuration management (CM) effectively coordinates and communicates the development activities of all team members. This provides a more comprehensive picture and the true state of the development project to all developers and managers involved.

Many developers have used the previous Telelogic SYNERGY integration with Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0. However, only some of the benefits of task-based CM could be leveraged. The new integration of SYNERGY/CM with Visual Studio .NET 2003 is considerably tighter than before. As such, a new intuitive interface called the SYNERGY/CM Task Toolbar and enhanced dialog boxes deliver all the advantages of task-based CM within the .NET Framework.

The updated integration also enhances the scalability of Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 so it can be more easily used on multiple projects or multiple concurrent editions of the same project. While SYNERGY's enterprise-class configuration management solutions could be previously accessed without leaving Visual Studio 6.0, this latest integration enables developers and build managers using Visual Studio .NET 2003 to more easily consult, select, and complete configuration management tasks specific to their roles.

The integration is based on the release earlier this year of Telelogic SYNERGY/CM 6.3, which also includes ActiveCM, Telelogic's revolutionary transparent interface that automates approximately 90 percent of routine and mundane activities such as file check in/out.

"More and more development organizations are migrating to Visual Studio .NET 2003 so it was important to keep our SYNERGY/CM integration up-to-date to meet the needs of our customers," said Ingemar Ljungdahl, chief technology officer for Telelogic. "With SYNERGY's industry-leading configuration management capabilities, Visual Studio.NET users will be well equipped to tackle the challenges of parallel and distributed development."

"Microsoft is pleased to continue our relationship with Telelogic in making the SYNERGY and Visual Studio .NET integration even more beneficial to development teams," said Prashant Sridharan, senior product manager for the Developer and Platform Evangelism Division at Microsoft Corp. "This latest integration will further streamline the configuration management process for Visual Studio .NET users."

Telelogic is a Microsoft Visual Studio Industry Partner (VSIP). Microsoft was a Gold Level Sponsor at Telelogic's 2003 User Group Conference, which was held last month in Las Vegas, Nevada.
