NCC to Rebuild Skelleftea-Kage Section of E4 Highway for SEK 168 million

SOLNA, Sweden, Nov. 18, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- NCC Construction Sweden has been commissioned by the National Road Administration's Northern Region to rebuild the section of the E4 highway between Skelleftea and Kage. The order is worth SEK 168 million.

The contract pertains to the rebuilding of an existing approximately 10- kilometer section of the E4 highway, increasing its size from two to four lanes, divided by a central reverse. The assignment includes a signal-controlled crossing and four interchanges with grade-separated junctions, as well as parallel roads that will connect to the new junctions. It also includes road-milling work and a new asphalt surface for the existing road, which will serve as one half of the new section of the E4. In addition, a number of bridges will be constructed as part of the contract.

Work on the project will commence in December and is scheduled for completion in October 2005. A total of about 40 employees will be engaged in the contract.

"We are extremely gratified to have been entrusted by the National Road Administration to conduct this well-needed highway project, which is of the utmost importance to traffic safety and infrastructure in the region. It is also important from the viewpoint of employment within our department," says NCC's department manager, Roger Ekman.
