Continues!
Celebrating the grand opening of the 10th Anniversary
season of the Blue Cross RiverRink, with free crafts,
face painting, entertainment and prizes throughout the
weekend. Listed below are some highlights from a
jam-packed weekend of fun!
Saturday November 29, 2003
At 12:15pm, the ribbon is cut and the ice is open to the
public! Hundreds of children will gather to open the
10th season at the Blue Cross RiverRink.
2:30 p.m. Sing Happy Birthday to Rinky and dig into
a massive Birthday cake made of Donuts, courtesy of
Dunkin Donuts. There will also be plenty of free donuts,
so everyone can join in the celebration.
Reels at the Rink
The Blue Cross RiverRink is now the premier location to
view the hottest DVD's this winter. Reels at the Rink
will include a series of DVD release parties including
Pirates of the Caribbean on Saturday November 29,
from 6-8 p.m. Special discounts, themed crafts, and
prizes will be featured for each release and screening.

Battle of the Bands
This year Sunday evenings at the Blue Cross RiverRink
will come alive with the sounds of local bands
competing at the 2003-2004 Blue Cross RiverRink Battle
of the Bands presented by Y100. This nine-week
competition is for bands looking for an opportunity to
show off their talent. Winners will perform on-stage
at a 2004 Summer Season event at Penn's Landing. The
final concert on February 8 will showcase the winning
band with a 90-minute performance. The Battle of the
Bands will be presented on Sunday evenings from 6-9 p.m.,
November 30 through February 8.
Background: All season-long, new initiatives will be
launched to enhance the regular programming at the
Blue Cross RiverRink. In addition to special activities
taking place at least once a month from November through
February, there will be a live DJ every Friday and
Saturday night, from 9pm until 12 midnight and
children's activities every weekend with FREE face
painting or crafts.
Skating session hours are Monday to Thursday evenings
only 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday
12:30-2:30 p.m., 3 - 5:30 p.m., 6 - 8 p.m.,
8:30 - 10:30 p.m., and 11 p.m. -1 a.m.;
Sunday 12:30 - 2:30 p.m., 3 - 5:30 p.m., and
6 - 9 p.m. Holiday Hours are 10 a.m. - noon,
3 - 5:30 p.m., 6 - 8 p.m., 8:30 - 10:30 p.m.
with additional hours on Friday and Saturday from
11 p.m. - 1 a.m.
The Blue Cross RiverRink is the only public skating facility in the region to offer sled skating sessions for the physically challenged. Special sled skating sessions will be available on Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on December 6th and throughout the months of January and February.
With over 100,000 guests expected to enjoy the Blue Cross RiverRink on Penn's Landing at Festival Pier in the 2003-2004 season, $1 from every admission during this year's Opening weekend will benefit the Delaware Valley Chapter of Variety Club, the charity that supports children with disabilities.
