EMS Technologies To Provide Packet Data Terminal Solution To Mon-Ro

ATLANTA, Dec. 22, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG) announced today that Transportes Mon-Ro S. A. de C.V., a leading Mexican trucking firm, has selected the EMS PDT-100 satellite data terminal for its fleet. The satellite provider is Astrum Communications of Monterrey, Mexico, which uses the Mobile Satellite Venture (MSV) North American satellite network.

Mon-Ro moves full truck loads of merchandise between the U.S. and Mexico for major American carriers, such as CFI, Swift, JB Hunt, Wal-Mart and Express Carriers. The company has already installed the PDT-100 on more than 220 trucks, and has immediate plans to install 40 more units.

Mon-Ro is using the Track & Trace software solution from internetPlace in conjunction with the EMS PDT-100 terminal for route management, two-way messaging, dispatch coordination, monitoring arrivals, driver's coordination for delay of shipments, and fuel-consumption monitoring. The Track & Trace software is a Transportation Management System (TMS) solution oriented to carriers. The web-based solution offers full integration with legacy and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

The PDT-100 satellite terminal offers coverage throughout all of Mexico, as well as Central America, the United States and Canada. Mon-Ro has found the ability to communicate with its trucks invaluable. The near real-time communications possible with the EMS PDT-100 is a key feature of the system. This real-time capability allows trucks to do two-way messaging, provides dispatchers with the ability to manage the fleet, and helps ensure the safety of drivers because they are always in touch.
