The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers was founded in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los Angeles. They wanted to form a national organization of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community. Today, the Society enjoys a strong but independent network of professional and student chapters throughout the nation.
Fallon was recognized for her outstanding contributions to engineering and science, including management, administration and education. The award is named for Father Junipero Serra, a Franciscan missionary. Award recipients demonstrate a pioneering spirit and tireless enthusiasm through their innovative accomplishments, leading to the advancement of engineering and science.
During her 16 years with Northrop Grumman Newport News, Fallon has contributed to, or managed, numerous engineering design projects. Currently, she is responsible for the structural manufacturing planning for the George H. W. Bush aircraft carrier and the Virginia-class submarine construction programs. She is also responsible for facilities' capacity planning, advanced planning for new product lines, SAP/ERP3 implementation and manufacturing technology.
A native of the Dominican Republic, Fallon's parents immigrated to the United States when she was nine. She earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Old Dominion University and a master's degree in engineering management from George Washington University.
Fallon is a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and national president of the Society of Women Engineers.
